Alcove Heated Soaking Tub for Two

Can I get a heated soaking tub for two? This is a question we get almost every day and luckily the answer is yes! Many of our tubs can have a recirculating pump and heater added to it. This system will slowly pull water out of the tub, heated it up and then put the warm water back into the bath. It will maintain the temperature of the water within a few degrees while barely moving the water. But Kyle needed more, he needed an alcove heated soaking tub for 2.

Generally the wider the tub the more comfortable two people will be in the tub. A tub for 2 will most likely have a center-side drain with 2 slanting backrests. Two bathers will recline face-to-face, feet next to their partner, thus the importance of the tub’s width in bathing area. What is a center-side drain? The drain is in the center on the long side, but closer to one long side than the other. See below, the drain is in the center left to right, but against the back wall.

MTI Andrea 13 Heated Tub for 2

Kyle picked the MTI Andrea 13. This is a 66″ x 42″ bath. The bathing area (bottom of the tub) is 42″ x 32 with a 17.75″ water depth (bottom of overflow). Can two people fit? Mark that area off on the floor and sit facing each other in that area. You will get a good idea of how it will work. Now we have a tub for two with MTI’s HTISOAK (pump and heater) but what about the alcove part?

An alcove tub usually has a tile flange and a front skirt. If the tub is not going to be a shower, a tile flange may not be necessary. Or a front skirt is not need if a custom one is going to be created. In this case the alcove tub is going to have both the flange and the skirt. A MTI ABS factory installed tile flange fuses to the tub, ensuring a watertight installation between the tub deck and the surrounding wall area.

When MTI adds a front skirt there is more that just a skirt. They also add a a factory-installed pre-leveled frame and foam base. The pre-leveled frame system eliminates the need to frame along the walls and use wet-bed compound to level the tub. This makes installation easier. But please note the tub is heavier with the attached framing.

A Stylish Retreat

I love the soft colored tile and the light flooring. In the shower you can see the interesting texture of the tile there. It gives a calming vibe that says cone in and rest awhile.
